Asia's most established contemporary art biennale opens September 5 under a title borrowed from the last line of Rilke's 1908 poem 'Archaic Torso of Apollo' — the moment a broken ancient statue upends how the viewer sees the world. The 16th edition builds on that jolt: when your vantage point shifts, you can no longer live as before.
